Today like there is...
The past, a smile, the sun.
Crawdads, mud pies, fat logs.
Flowers, tall trees, we run.
Swing-sets, berries, big dogs.
Childhoods, other lives,
Long dead, but still bright--
No, not dead, but all gone--
No, not gone...
But tucked in--
Tucked in, that child I once was...
Safe with her Rainbow Brite sheets,
Forevermore, she sleeps.
Who I am, from my past, for future.
Memories, blend with me, with my now.
I still swing, I still smile--never climbed trees--
They're too high, that won't change--
Nor will the essence of I.
I live this day like there is a tomorrow--
And like there was a yesterday.
